Our whole week at home, following vacation, we struggled to summon the required energy to make lunches + get out the door. When we did, we liked it. Mostly, though, we didn’t, completing many forgotten home projects + enjoying rearranging + cleaning our daily spaces around here.
We’ve had some personal growth this week as well – that usually feels awkward to me. Rosetta has a friend with a similar temperament, and that makes it hard for them to move on from disappointment when they play. They’re quiet, funny people, and disagreement shifts them into defensive mode.
Lots of art space this week because of the super cold weather. We finished all kinds of paintings, knife sheath leatherwork and planning. All together, it was a low-key week of friend play and easy outings just to leave the house, combined with wrapping up projects we left alone when the weather was so nice.
Whew. We’ve begun embracing the season and starting all the holiday crafts and our seasonal read-aloud, all great things!
World’s fattest toad + goat-feeding this week, alongside plenty of making time at home = some pretty happy, well-adjusted kids. Now for Halloween….
We did some silly things in the wind – shooting archery! fly fishing! making mobiles! – and wished we hadn’t. Even if I’m not quite ready for them, our indoor activities felt less frustrating.
