Journal, October 27: The Control Issue

sitting in this space, i realize i have some work to do around control. judging my kids harshly on their choice to use the screen time available to them isn’t helping them feel good about flexing their personal freedom OR making our time together very enjoyable. yet i do have needs, + i’ve been belittling those too.

March 15 – Weekly Tracking

Lots of indoor time this week with the snowpocalypse – more than 2 feet of snow! We played in it, of course, just not for long. Huge clumps fell from our trees on top of us every time we ventured out. Group sledding on Friday was a favorite.

Finally, a spring-like week! We spent loads of time outdoors this week, roaming parks and the zoo, picnicking, and hiking. Our month of Lego has come to an end – it’s beautiful having an empty living room floor again.

February 21 – Weekly Tracking

Early season trip to Moab at the end of last week, into this one, so lots of hiking and geology work. Plenty of time outside, peering at rocks of many types, and then returning home to a snow storm!

February 14 – Weekly Tracking

Outdoors, again! While we did still manage a lot of audiobooks, picture books and podcasts, we also got outside more now that it’s not so cold. The relief of outdoor time is real. Skate parks, here we come!

January 31 – Weekly Tracking

Lots of busyness this week, either chatting with friends in group games or sledding in the real world with friends. It’s a good week when we’ve listened to soooo much audio while Lego + playing.
