Butterfly Science
“What are these?” they asked. The butterflies reminded me of monarchs, but not quite. They were not as crisply defined, and smaller, their spread wings an ombré of fuzzy oranges.

It began with a simple art closet organization project – it’s been on my list awhile, oy – and progressed into an obsession. The day I became a sea turtle, that’s what I looked like at the pool. Did people look at me? Yes. That is what Rosetta wanted, only she thought they’d be jealous, haha.

Short week, due to illness. We celebrated a stuffy-headed Rosetta’s 9th birthday on Wednesday, inviting only the same people who got us sick and limiting the activity portion of the party to trampoline balloons and a hamster ball. Plus an aunt brought colorful wigs!

The “school” portion of our learning year is over, but the photo taking never ends! This week we had a visit from the grandparents, plus lots of butterfly-watching time as they hatched (all but one, sadly). Plus, park days are back!

Fun week of new experiences: trying out archery with a new 4H group in person, geocaching on bicycles in our neighborhood, a self-imposed sibling Chopped Challenge, speed burning with Wilder’s handcarved fire sticks, and spore printing mushrooms that grew in our front yard to try and identify them.
