Last camping trip of the year, sniff. We headed off to Stagecoach State Park in Oak Creek with a set of grandparents in their RV. It was glorious weather, 70s by day, 30s by night. I love when you need the fire to survive. It feels more primal, even tho we had a camper to retire to in desperate times. We explored, and made mud, and fished, and wandered through so many ecosystems.
The week of science experiments, if ever there was one. From DIY egg dye to rocket launching, we did them ALL.
Another easy week in the books. Off we go to SkyZone and the National Western Stock Show, then some at-home cooking challenges with bread, rolls and sushi.
Happiest New Year! Not a lot to write, really. We drove to KC, where we were slated to spend a lazy week with family + cousins. Due to a COVID breakout, however, we drove back home the next day and were required to quarantine. So I took my “break” here.

Whew. We’ve begun embracing the season and starting all the holiday crafts and our seasonal read-aloud, all great things!
We spent Sunday to Wednesday running and doing, then a long Thursday of inspired reading and self-directed home projects. While we may agree on what we’re doing for the week, it’s also been tiring.
We’re barely beginning our book work of the year, and it’s quickly halted. Here we are, recovering quietly with lots of TV time instead of raging through our weekend outdoors.
We rounded mid-week with a grandparent visit, the first of many throughout our school year. Because of our flexible schedule, they’re always popping up for a week here and there. That was this week.
